Research integrity is the responsibility of the entire scientific community (researchers, publishers, funding agencies, etc.). During this Knowledge 2 connect lunch meeting, Stefanie Van der Burght will give you hands-on advice based on real-life examples in Medicine and Health Sciences.
The following cases will be discussed during this interactive Knowledge 2 Connect seminar:
- How do you feel about exchanging co-authorship?
- Would you perform a peer-review of a scientific paper written by a researcher who is also your friend?
- How do you feel about submitting your grant proposal knowing beforehand that it promises more than you will be able to deliver?
- What do you do when your private funder asks you to write bolder statements than your research results allow?
- … and other dilemmas in science.
In addition, Stefanie will tell you about the UGent research integrity policy and the actions you can take as a researcher in an environment where research integrity is one of the guiding principles.
Guest speaker: Stefanie Van der Burght is Research Integrity & Ethics Advisor at Ghent University.
