GASTROENTEROLOGY AND ENDOTHERAPY : XIXth EUROPEAN WORKSHOP
June 18 to June 20, 2001 - Brussels
This course is designed to introduce the experienced gastroenterologist to the growing
field of therapeutic endoscopy, to remind the most current diagnostic problems and to show
the new accessories.
It will include live video demonstrations permitting interchanges between faculty and
registrants during procedures, using interactive personal computer assistance, lectures,
quizzes and round tables.
The procedures will be performed by expert endoscopists in collaboration with
radiologists, pathologists and
surgeons.
The aim of these demonstrations is not only to show the new devices and tricks for
succeeding in each type of therapeutic procedures, but above all to explain clearly how to
avoid the complications related to therapeutic endoscopy.
MAIN PROCEDURES :
1. Upper digestive tract : · diagnostic problems in esogastroduodenoscopy · dilation of
esophageal strictures and stenting · hemostatis for bleeding ulcers (APC, injection,
clips) · echoendoscopy, trans-mural biopsies and punctures · enteroscopy · percutaneous
gastrostomy and jejunostomy · mucosectomy
2. Biliopancreatic diseases : · therapeutic ERCP · ESWL for CBD and pancreatic stones ·
sphincterotomy and stents (biliary and pancreatic) · percutaneous transhepatic biliary
drainage · cystenterostomy
3. Portal hypertension : · variceal banding and obliteration, transjugular biopsies, TIPS
4. Tumors of the colon and IBD : · ileocolonoscopy, polypectomy, dilation and stenting of
strictures.
